Nicholas Walters
Head Instructor Nicholas Walters is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Gracie Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu under Luiz Palhares.
He started his training in martial arts at the age of 7. Initially, Nicholas focused on stand up styles such as Tae-Kwon-Do. Nicholas was a high school wrestler who made the varsity team as a sophomore, participating in regional competitions every year. At age 19, Nicholas began training in Okinawan Kempo Karate Kobudo, quickly earning his Black Belt under Sensi Jorge Colon (5th degree Black belt under Master Odo 10th degree Black Belt)
Nicholas started his journey into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in late 2006 under Professor Jerry Moreno (3rd degree Black Belt under Luiz Palhares). While training under Professor Moreno he was a leader within the group and began competing on the International level. Nicholas also has found time to help his local military. He has volunteered his time with seminars at the MAI (Martial Arts Instructor) course for the United States Marines at Camp Lejeune. Nicholas earned his Black Belt by Luiz Palhares on April 27th 2013. Nicholas continues to train with Luiz Palhares on a bi-annual schedule.
Nicholas’ main martial arts focus since 2010 has been to teach Jiu-Jitsu to both adults and children focusing on fundamentals and skill mastery. He considers himself a student first and constantly works to refine his own technique and knowledge base. With an extensive martial arts background, he is well-rounded and disciplined. He also trains with other Black Belts all over the East Coast to continue developing his skill set.
